We all knew it was going to happen. We sue McDonalds for getting us fat, then we sue for coffee being too hot and now we sue Myspace for getting us raped. It’s like we can’t take care of ourselves without being warned first.
Girl sues MySpace for getting her assaulted.

「またか。太ったとかからと言ってマクドナルドを訴え、コーヒーが熱すぎると言ってはまた訴え、今度はレイプされたと言ってMySpaceを訴える。どうやら我々は予め注意されないと自分の身も守れないようだ。」

MySpaceを通じて出会った男性に襲われた14歳の女の子(とその両親)が、未成年者(原文はminorとなっている)の保護を怠ったとして30百万ドルの訴訟を起こしたようです。Web2.0の波に乗ろうと高い金出して買ったのに、法規制されるかもしれなくなってウンザリしているMurdochにとっては、泣きっ面に蜂といったところでしょう(被告はMySpaceオーナーのNews Corp)。

She’s the one who gave the guy her phone number… Even as much as I despise the site, it’s certainly not myspace’s fault. I’d sue her parents for letting a 14 year old go out with a guy she met on a infamous site for predators. Keep up with your damn children already!

So if you call a wrong number and get into a discussion with the person, set up a meeting, get raped, it’s the phone company’s fault right?

There are plenty of protective measures on MySpace.
First of all, if you do not know the person who is asking to be your friend, you do not have to hit the “accept” button. How hard is it?
Second of all, you can put your profile in “private mode” so that only your friends can view it.
Many MySpace users know not to talk to strangers. There are just the select few that are too stupid to comprehend and shouldn’t even be allowed near a computer.

Hu ho, its probably the movie that gave the idea of the rape… lets make it 90 millions! Oh wait what did they eat? And how comes there was nobody watching that park? Do the owner of the park have no shame to promote the raping of young girls by having an unsupervised park like that open to the public?
Get real bunch of money hungry bastards! The only reason My space is sued is because its on the news everyday lately. Like the parent poster said : “Keep up with your damn children already!”

とまぁ、こんな感じ。
それにしても、MySpaceって一時日本でも問題となった出会い系サイトと同じような扱いになってしまっている事が良く分かる事件でした。
